🎭💓Hello, good morning.
May 12, 2021, Today's devotional. In the 80s, there was a R&B group named Club Nouveau. They had a top hit called, Jealousy. In the song, they spoke about all these negative encounters with people who were jealous and quintessentially did them wrong. When we think of the word jealous, we immediately attach negativity, envy, hurt, foul intentions, and more to this term.
God is jealous.
Yet in the context of Jehovah God, he has every right to be jealous.
The definition of Jealous from Merriam Webster is
1: hostile toward a rival
2: intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness
3: vigilant in guarding a possession
1. God is hostile toward anything that competes with his sovereignty!
2. He is intolerant of Satan and his unfaithfulness.
3. We are HIS possession! He has a right to guard what he owns. In the same manner, you have a right to guard your property.
Understand that his jealousy comes from a source of love.
Do you respect & protect what is his (you and your spiritual brothers and sisters)?
Are you careful and loving towards his creation?
🎭Major character alert: Kings & Queens have a right to protect and serve their possessions. They know when to go to war to guard their territory.
💓I love you; he loves you; we love you!
🙏🏽Nahum 1:2-3 ERV
The LORD is a jealous God. The LORD punishes the guilty, and he is very angry. The LORD punishes his enemies, and he stays angry with them. [3] The LORD is patient, but he is also very powerful! The LORD will punish the guilty; he will not let them go free. He will use whirlwinds and storms to show his power. People walk on the dusty ground, but he walks on the clouds.
