🎭📃Hello, good morning.
May 4, 2021, Today's devotional. In the 80s/90s I used to listen to a lot of Hip-Hop/Rap music and a phrase that was used all the time was, "Word is bond!" Basically saying, you can trust me. You can trust what I'm saying. I'm bonded/secured to what I'm saying.
The roots of the phrase derive from the Africa-Islam movement with Africabambata, Rakim, Brand Nubian, and others heavy utilizing the phrase. During this time, there there was more of a spiritual push in being righteous and living righteously.
I have learned in my life, what I say, I'm going to follow through on! Period. One thing for sure, two things for certain, if I tell you I'm going to do something, I do it!! Even if I don't tell you, I do what I'm intentional about doing.
Biblically, the phrase can be found all throughout the scriptures in various ways. Simply saying, your words are a covenant, a promise, a vow between you and Jehovah, you and who you are speaking them to.
When you speak - know the power of the words that are being used. When Jehovah spoke, the power of his words brought life into existence. It sealed us to him. All that he says is true!
Do you break your promises with Jehovah?
How often do you say something and not do it?
How often do you use your words to wound and break? To kill, steal or destroy a person?
God does not break his promises. The Holy Bible is his covenant binding word between him and us.
🎭Major character alert: Kings & Queens realize that when they speak they are bonded to the words they say.
💓I love you, he loves you, we love you!
🙏🏽Matthew 5:33-37 ERV
"You have heard that it was said to our people long ago, 'When you make a vow, you must not break your promise. Keep the vows that you make to the Lord.' [34] But I tell you, when you make a promise, don't try to make it stronger with a vow. Don't make a vow using the name of heaven, because heaven is God's throne. [35] Don't make a vow using the name of the earth, because the earth belongs to him. Don't make a vow using the name of Jerusalem, because it also belongs to him, the great King. [36] And don't even say that your own head is proof that you will keep your promise. You cannot make one hair on your head white or black. [37] Say only 'yes' if you mean 'yes,' and say only 'no' if you mean 'no.' If you say more than that, it is from the Evil One.
